A Decade of Achievements for Antoine Griezmann with the French National Team

Griezmann’s international career began in 2014 under manager Didier Deschamps, and from that moment, he became a core part of the team’s success. He was instrumental in France’s triumph at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where his contributions in both scoring and playmaking were pivotal. Notably, he scored a penalty in the final as France secured a 4-2 victory over Croatia to lift the World Cup. His performances throughout the tournament, including four goals and four assists, solidified his status as one of the world’s elite forwards.

In addition to the World Cup, Griezmann played a key role in helping France win the 2021 Nations League, adding another major trophy to his collection. Over his 137 appearances for Les Bleus, Griezmann netted 44 goals, becoming one of the team’s top scorers.

Despite missing out on becoming France’s captain after Hugo Lloris’ retirement, Griezmann remained a key figure for the national side. He continued to play a crucial role in France’s run to the semi-finals at Euro 2024, where they were ultimately defeated by Spain.

Griezmann’s departure marks the end of a golden era for French football, and as Deschamps said, “Even if his club career is not over, Antoine will remain a monument of French football, one of the greatest players in its history. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for everything, Grizou,” as quoted by BBC.
